the bachelor party

well there. here i am, alone with some time on my hands. why not waste some. i have the wrestler on dvd waiting for me to watch and i could be on that right now. but it would take so much effort to move my laptop from the east side of the living room over to the west. and i'm enjoying the silence. kim is somewhere. dinner. wait, she just called. make that dinner and a movie. so yeah, enjoying the silence. i think i'll put a little dead on.

getting ready for another fun climb this sunday. oxford and belford await. the ford sisters. i'm gettin' all geared up. bought some poles and a new pack. my running has been slacking since my last climb but hopefully it won't throw me off. lately i've been really setting my sights on some ambitious plans over the next twenty years or so. things like camp here, climb there. kim and i are going camping in a couple weeks and i couldn't be more stoked. i don't think there's enough time in the year for a trip with katie but we'll see.

vegas. that's all i'm allowed to say.

i left my home in fresno, california, colorado on my mind. it's so good living in colorado. i used to resent my mom for moving us here but now i think of it as the only good state not on the pacific coast and this side of the mississippi. no offense to the states in between but colorado is just a better place to be. i heard someone on the radio say that kansas is just a driveway to colorado. i think that is hilarious. i recommend everyone live in colorado at least one in their life. for just a year. it'll do you some good.

so katie just had her second birthday recently. it was so much fun. kim was brilliant and got her a piñata of a 2. it looked like she was having fun smacking it with the little bat. and she was right on queue to blow out her two candles when we finished singing to her. it was like she had prepared her whole little life for that moment to make that fire disappear. she got some cool gifts like bowling and ring toss and a new pool and a tricycle and a trampoline (her favorite) and books and clothes and more that i don't want type out. her family certainly loves her. and i love her. she's the greatest little thing. she's at the point where every other word from her mouth is a new one and it usually catches kim and i off guard. we were playing ring toss today and she counted to three as i threw them on. a couple days ago she had a nice convo with the cat (she calls "boo") that sort of went like, "boo, outside? (pause) okay, outside." i just re-read that and it doesn't sound impressive, but i guess you had to be there. it made us laugh hard. in the past couple weeks she really turned a page on her ability to talk. now she'll say anything. tonight she said "sprout please".

so seriously, about vegas, it was fun. hardcore fun. a couple not so fun moments but overall it was, it was, well, vegas i guess. saw the sites; walked a lot; money kept going this way and that, but never my way; swam; got sun; ate double-doubles; probably did a thing or two that i shouldn't have; drove and sat for more hours than i ever care to again; laughed; danced a lot; shopped the mall; walked more; clubs; and overall celebrated the future of mr. melchior and the comradery of us homies. sounds gay but really it was cool hangin' with them like that. like i said, it was vegas. some things come back, some things don't. when they ask you what happened just say, "i don't remember man".
